The City of Ballarat acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land we live and work on, the Wadawurrung and Dja Dja Wurrung People, and recognises their continuing connection to the land and waterways. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging and extend this to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People.

Ballarat's Frolic Festival runs twice yearly local LGBTIQA+ festivals - Ballarat Frolic Festival in summer and Frolic Dark Rainbow in winter.

You are welcome to attend our flag raising event with speeches and an afternoon tea at the Town Hall
17 May
The Progress Pride Flag will be flying proudly over the Town Hall all day, and you are invited to an afternoon tea at the Ballarat Central Library.
17 - 26 May
A brand new community exhibition, Queer Stories, will be showing at TBH Studio in Bridge Mall.
1 - 30 June
With just under 50 events in and around Ballarat over the month of June, our first official Ballarat Pride Month is an awesome celebration of LGBTIQA+ folks.

Take a book, leave a book, this free little library is filled with LGBTIQA+ books for all ages.
22 - 25 August
A Queer Little Library had it's first pop up at the inaugural FAQT - Festival of Queer Theatre
30 August
The City of Ballarat will be lighting up the Town Hall clock and the Lake Wendouree fountain purple in honour of Wear It Purple Day this year.
23 September
We partnered with The Y Ballarat, Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY) and QHub Ballarat to hold a pie making workshop with a guest speaker for bi and pan youth.
The Bisexual Flag was also planted in flowers in Sturt St.
1 - 31 October
Ballarat Seniors Festival is coming up and we have 4 events specifically for LGBTIQA+ folks
19 October - 27 October
For the Children's Week launch we will be presenting A Rainbow Little Library, a free little library filled with age appropriate LGBTIQA+ books for kids.
9 - 10 November
The Ballarat Affirmation Station is trans-led, dedicated to empowering transgender, gender diverse, and non-binary people as they navigate their gender journeys. It hosts a variety of workshops and gender-affirming activities such as makeup tutorials and binder fittings. All of our programs are designed to help gender-diverse people freely explore who they are and how they want to express themselves.
13 - 19 November
We Are Here, a new exhibition by trans and gender diverse artists will be showing at TBH Studio in Bridge Mall.
1 December
A free drop-in origami and fabric ribbon making workshop with information about HIV, AIDS and sexual health from Ballarat Community Health
