International Transgender Day of Visibility is an annual event occurring every March 31 since 2009 dedicated to celebrating transgender people and raising awareness of discrimination faced by transgender people worldwide, as well as a celebration of their contributions to society.
The Town Hall clock tower was lit up blue and pink for Transgender Day of Visibility.

We had speeches by performer Em Chandler and learning about some transgender folk from Australian history with Dr Sophie Pilbeam, with a delicious afternoon tea
at TBH Studio, 57 Bridge Mall, Ballarat Central
In 2024, we held a flag raising with speeches by the Mayor and community, followed by an afternoon tea in the Town Hall.
In 2023, we held a flag raising with speeches by the Mayor and community, followed by an afternoon tea in the Town Hall.
In 2022, we held a flag raising with speeches by the Mayor and community.
The City of Ballarat also supported a community held panel discussion on the topic of Transgender Celebration, Awareness and Inclusivity and afternoon tea.
In 2021, we held a flag raising with speeches by the Mayor and community.
The City of Ballarat acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land we live and work on, the Wadawurrung and Dja Dja Wurrung People, and recognises their continuing connection to the land and waterways. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging and extend this to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People.
