World AIDS Day, designated on 1 December every year since 1988, is an international day dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection and mourning those who have died of the disease.
To mark World AIDS Day 2024, City of Ballarat hosted a Awareness Ribbon workshop at TBH Studio. We had crochet, knitting, origami and fabric ribbons and information about HIV, AIDS and sexual health thanks to Ballarat Community Health.

Come join us for our World AIDS Day forum on the 1st December. This year is the 40th anniversary of the Australian response to the AIDS crisis. Our forum will look at how far we've come and where we are today - both the struggles and the successes.
The Forum will be held at the Ballarat Town Hall, 225 Sturt St, Ballarat Central. It will run from 10am-11am and there’ll be morning tea provided afterwards.
Forum guests:
In 2023, the clock tower on the Town Hall and the fountain in Lake Wendouree were lit up red for World AIDS Day.
The City of Ballarat acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land we live and work on, the Wadawurrung and Dja Dja Wurrung People, and recognises their continuing connection to the land and waterways. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging and extend this to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People.
