Bisexuality Visibility Day, is observed annually on September 23 to recognize and celebrate bisexual people, the bisexual community, and the history of bisexuality.

For each day of Bisexual Visibility Week, leading up to Bisexual Visibility Day, we are doing a series of posts on our social media around all things Bisexual.

We stacked the Little Queer Library with a box or two of books that have bisexual characters and themes, including the autobiography of Margaret Cho, Bi The Way, the Bisexual Guide to Life, Just As Well I'm Leaving, a look at everyone's favourite Bisexual fairy tale author, Hans Christian Anderson, a number of fiction books with Bi characters and more!

On the night of the 23rd September, the clock tower on the Town Hall and the fountain in Lake Wendouree were lit up in pink, blue and purple to represent the bisexual flag for Bisexual Visibility Day.

In 2024, we are partnering with The Y Ballarat, Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY) and QHub Ballarat to have a pie making workshop for bi and pan youth. We have a guest speaker also coming along, Vanessa from Fairy Wren Counselling talking all things Bi and Pan. Young people can come along, meet other bi and pan youth, hear from Vanessa and make and eat some delicious pies.

We also planted the Bisexual flag in flowers in the middle of Sturt St for Bisexuality Day, 2024.
The City of Ballarat acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land we live and work on, the Wadawurrung and Dja Dja Wurrung People, and recognises their continuing connection to the land and waterways. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging and extend this to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People.
